- Key West has a new queen in the shoe. Dallas performer Jada Pinkett Fox won the national If the Shoe Fits contest in October.
- Sydney's Celebration has moved. Its 16th season leaves the Museum of Contemporary Art terrace for The Wharf at Walsh Bay.

Book the trip before the line-ups appear. Berghain has posted its Silvester line-up in late November or early December in recent years, and Rio's city hall usually names the Copacabana artists in November or December. White Party Bangkok opened tickets and host-hotel blocks in August.

Berlin, Brussels and Provincetown are cold and dark by late afternoon. Rio, Sydney, Bangkok and Puerto Vallarta are hot, and Key West is mild.
Where to spend gay New Year's Eve
The five headline parties are on four continents, and three smaller ones fill out the week. Two cities not on this list have New Year's Day parties too: in New York, Sunrise takes over the Wythe Hotel rooftop in Brooklyn on the afternoon of January 1, and in London, Orange Nation is promoting a MADMEN New Year at Fire and Lightbox in Vauxhall, with dates still to come.

Book the room before the ticket. New Year's week is peak season in every city here, and rooms go long before the line-ups are out.
Tickets and doors
- White Party Bangkok: all-night passes are online only, there's no re-entry at the night parties, and photos of ID aren't accepted. Bring the physical card.
- Celebration in Sydney: advance tickets only, no door sales.
- Rio: private Réveillon packages at beachfront hotels, rooftops and boats sell out well before December.
Where to stay in Bangkok
Last year's night parties were at Paragon Hall in Siam Paragon and the pool parties at TRIBE Sky Beach Club in EmSphere, so Siam and Sukhumvit are practical bases. Silom has the gay bars. The 2026 venues aren't confirmed yet.
Getting home after midnight
- Rio: cars are kept out of Copacabana from the evening. From 7pm on December 31 to 5am on January 1, the metro only takes the Passaporte Réveillon, a QR ticket bought online in December (R$15, roughly US$3, last time). Taxis and ride apps are very hard to find near the beach after midnight.
- Berlin: the S-Bahn ring and most S-Bahn lines run all night, and Berghain is a short walk from Ostbahnhof.
- Key West and Provincetown: both are walkable, which is much of their appeal on this night.
Laws and safety
Same-sex marriage is legal in Thailand, Germany, the United States, Brazil and Australia, and the UK government describes Thailand as generally safe for LGBT+ travelers. Thailand's drug laws are the exception: the UK government warns that even small quantities can mean heavy fines or prison, and Class A drugs can carry the death penalty. White Party Bangkok searches bags and bans vapes.
Berlin bans fireworks in a few zones on New Year's Eve, including Alexanderplatz and, in recent years, the Steinmetzkiez in Schöneberg near the Nollendorfplatz bars.

- Buy Rio's metro pass before December 31 From 7pm on New Year's Eve, Rio's metro only takes the pre-bought Passaporte Réveillon QR ticket, and cars can't reach Copacabana. Without it, getting there and back is a long walk.
- Get to White Party Bangkok by 9pm Queues for the night parties build fast and there's no re-entry, so arrive by 9pm with a physical ID. A photo of your passport won't get you in.
- Don't rush to Berghain for 1am Silvester Klubnacht runs from 1am on January 1 into Saturday, so there's no need to be in the first queue. See in the new year somewhere else first.
